Adjunct Faculty Professor, Hannes Goegele from the Asian Institute of Management’s (AIM) Stephen Zuellig Graduate School of Development Management (SZSDM) boasts fifteen years of on-the-ground experience in humanitarian aid and development.
Prof. Goegele designed and implemented development programs in partner countries in Africa, Asia, South-Eastern Europe, and the Pacific and currently works as an Emergency Coordinator for the World Food Programme in the Philippines. He is a qualified first responder and was deployed during Typhoon Haiyan’s landfall in 2013, the Gorkha Earthquake disaster that hit Nepal in 2015, as well as many other large-scale disasters.
As a professor of the Executive Master in Disaster Risk and Crisis Management (EMDRCM) program at AIM, Prof. Goegele teaches Crisis and Humanitarian Emergency Management (CHEM), a concentration subject within the program. His lectures explore the roles leaders and organizations play in CHEM as well as tackling global collective action problems with his students. Because of his busy schedule, he usually meets his class online through teleconferencing platforms while out in the field.
Before becoming an AIM faculty member, Prof. Goegele worked as a humanitarian expert at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and with the International Organization for Migration. He acquired a Master’s Degree in Political Science and Communications from Vienna University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Finance and Management at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London.
Prof. Goegele’s expertise in the field, coupled with his dedication and commitment to humanitarian efforts, as well as his academic background makes him a valued member of SZSDM’s EMDRCM program.
