The Sustainable Leadership Learning for Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction Scholarship Empowers Leaders in Disaster Risk Management
Makati City Philippines — The Climate Change Commission (CCC), with the support of Senator Loren Legarda, and in partnership with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), proudly announces the offering of 18 full scholarships for the Executive Master in Disaster Risk and Crisis Management (EMDRCM).
The Sustainable Leadership Learning for Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction (SLL-CDRR) Scholarship Program stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the CCC, Senator Loren Legarda, and AIM toward sustainable development. It addresses the urgent need for innovative solutions in climate change and disaster management, not just within the nation but on a global scale.
This collaborative effort aims to cultivate a new breed of leaders armed with the necessary skills to confront the complexities of climate challenges, in the pursuit of a more resilient global community.
Guided by the CCC, the selection process will prioritize candidates with backgrounds and expertise in climate change and disaster risk management.
The SLL-CDRR is a full scholarship program available to:
- Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers in local and national government units, pivotal in spearheading disaster response and rehabilitation endeavors
- Women leaders dedicated to climate change adaptation, acknowledging their invaluable perspectives and experiences in tackling the gender dimensions of the climate crisis
- Indigenous leaders or representatives, who serve as stewards of our environment
- Sustainability champions in local and national government agencies, often unsung heroes navigating bureaucratic landscapes striving towards environmental sustainability
To qualify for the SLL-CDRR Scholarship Program, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Must come from one of the sectors stated above: Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer in local and national government units, women leaders for climate change adaptation, leaders from indigenous groups, or sustainability champions in local and national government agencies
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree
- Have a minimum of five years of professional work experience, preferably with at least two years managerial experience
- Demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English
Ready to take the next step towards becoming a resilient leader? Follow these steps to apply for the Executive Master in Disaster Risk and Crisis Management (EMDRCM) program under the SLL-CDRR Scholarship:
- Complete the Application Form: Start by filling out the application form, accessible at AIM’s admissions portal.
- Submit Required Documents: Gather the necessary documents and email them to emdrcm@aim.edu. Ensure you include:
- Updated Curriculum Vitae
- Certified True Copy of Diploma
- Copy of Transcript of Academic Records (TOR) or mark sheet
- Letter of Motivation
- Valid government ID (preferably passport ID page)
- Additional Requirements for Government Applicants: If you are from a local or national government agency, provide the following:
- Certification from Head/Chief of the Human Resource Division/Office stating: no pending administrative or criminal case, no pending nomination in another scholarship program, and performance rating of very satisfactory (or equivalent) for the two consecutive semesters immediately preceding the nomination
- Most recent Appointment Letter
- Statement of your current duties and responsibilities
- Service Record
- Personal Data Sheet
- Copy of agency ID and any government-issued ID (if applicable)
- Clearance document from Ombudsman and National Bureau of Investigation (completed within the last six months)
- Review and Evaluation: AIM’s Recruitment and Admissions Office will review and evaluate all submitted documents. Qualified applicants will be notified to undergo a Program Overview Session via Zoom with the Student Recruitment Senior Supervisor.
- Admission Interview: Applicants who pass the initial screening will be endorsed to the AIM faculty for an admission interview.
- NMAT by GMAC Management School Admission Test: Upon passing the admissions interview, applicants will be required to take the NMAT by GMAC Management School Admission test. Send your NMAT test scorecard to the AIM Recruitment and Admissions Office.
- Final Selection and Approval: The AIM Recruitment and Admissions Office will endorse qualified applicants to the Climate Change Commission for final selection and approval.
- Notification of Results: Results of the scholarship application will be sent via email.
- Application Deadline: Remember, the deadline for the SLL-CDRR scholarship application is until 30 April 2024 only.
