by Carmelle Lucina C. Domingo

Makati, Philippines – The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) celebrates Victor Mari Baguilat Jr., a Master in Development Management (MDM) 2020 alumnus, who is weaving hope and empowerment through his Kandama Social Enterprise. This innovative initiative not only preserves the tradition of Ifugao weaving but also creates sustainable livelihoods for indigenous women in the region.

Victor’s leadership and vision as the Founder, CEO, and Creative Director of Kandama have earned him high recognition and appreciation as one of the five Ramon V. del Rosario Siklab Awards 2024 recipients. This award honors exceptional entrepreneurs who are making a positive difference in their communities and industries through their businesses or social enterprises. Out of hundreds of nominations, five individuals were selected for their unwavering commitment to social change through entrepreneurship.

Victor’s innovative approach extends beyond traditional business practices. He leverages blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to provide customers with proof of ownership and authenticity, adding value and showcasing Kandama’s commitment to sustainability and ethical practices.

The impact of Kandama has brought the exquisite art of Ifugao weaving to the international stage and is a testament to the real-world application of the MDM mission to develop leaders who can create significant societal impact and lead global change.

Victor is a visionary, a social entrepreneur, and a beacon of hope, not only for the Julongan, Ifugao community but also for aspiring young minds seeking to make a positive influence. His story inspires and empowers. Just like him, realize your purpose and take the next step to become an AIM MDM graduate. Secure your spot in the January 2025 intake and start your journey toward developing scalable solutions for a sustainable future.
