Makati, Philippines – The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) recently held a townhall to celebrate their longstanding partnership, which has successfully developed numerous global changemakers through the Master in Development Management (MDM) program.
The event highlighted the program’s pivotal role in developing leaders capable of addressing complex international development challenges. Emphasizing practical application and real-world impact, the MDM program has consistently fostered graduates who are making a significant difference across Asia and the Pacific.
The MDM program’s curriculum directly aligns with the goals of the ADB-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP), cultivating professionals who can positively influence communities and societies. This alignment ensures that graduates are well-prepared to collaborate with both organizations in achieving shared development objectives.
Professor Olivier Roche, PhD, School Head of the Stephen Zuellig Graduate School of Development Management, and Professor Dominik Balthasar, PhD, Academic Program Director of the MDM program, discussed the mutual aspiration of AIM and ADB through the ADB-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) in creating global impact.
Professor Balthasar emphasized the MDM program’s unique focus on equipping students with the management and leadership skills necessary to drive international development. He also pointed out the program’s commitment to innovation and adaptability to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world.
The recent fundraising efforts of the MDM cohort, which raised over PHP 300,000.00 in just a few days to support local communities, were cited as a testament to the program’s effectiveness in instilling social responsibility and leadership.
Mr. Hiroki Kasahara, Senior Financing Partnerships Specialist at ADB, discussed the crucial role of the ADB-JSP in supporting the MDM program. Mr. Kasahara stressed the program’s commitment to nurturing future leaders who can contribute to the advancement of the global ecosystem.
The townhall also featured testimonials from current and former ADB-JSP scholars, who shared student experiences and the positive impact the program has on their personal and professional growth. They praised the high-quality education, supportive learning environment, and opportunities for networking and collaboration provided by the Institute.
