After every academic quarter, the Stephen Zuellig Graduate School of Development Management (SZSDM) organizes a recognition ceremony to celebrate the achievement of those who have made it on the Dean’s List.
With Academic Quarter 3 of School Year 2022 – 2023 in the books, the SZSDM Team on June 7, 2023, held another ceremony to celebrate students from the Master in Development Management (MDM) 2023 cohort, and the Executive Master in Disaster Risk and Crisis Management (EMDRCM) 2023 and 2024 cohorts who excelled academically during the quarter. The event was held on campus at the Meralco Caseroom and online via Zoom.
The recognition ceremony opened with a welcoming speech delivered by SZSDM School Head, Professor Olivier Roche, PhD. In his speech Professor Roche applauded the students for being able to work diligently on their studies while balancing their personal and work responsibilities. “We value students who go the extra mile to achieve academic excellence” said Roche. He also highlighted that in the MDM and EMDRCM programs, students deal with important and complex issues which he hopes will inspire them to have a collective impact on society once they graduate.
The program proceeded to the awarding of the Dean’s List certificate. The certificate was awarded to 20 students, spread across the 3 cohorts present.
After the awarding of the certificates, Jerome Orfano of EMDRCM 2024 took the stage and gave an inspirational message to the attendees. Orfano, who was also part of the Dean’s List for the previous quarter, touched on the challenges his cohort faced during their time in the EMDRCM program. He said that being able to make it on the Dean’s List “is a testament of who we are and what we value. It speaks of our commitment to knowledge, to learning, and to personal growth. It is proof we did not shy away from challenges but instead face them head on. Learning, growing, and excelling in the process”. Orfano also reiterated the sentiments of Professor Roche that being on the Dean’s List is a call to use the lessons from the program to create change and contribute to the world around us.
